Ramallah Friends School has been under the care of Friends since 1869 . The history of the Friends School is one closely tied with the history of Palestine.  Over the last century, the School has experienced Turkish, British, Jordanian rule, and Israeli occupation, world wars, and closures. The Friends School, in its checkered political history, has served not only as schools, but also as a center for refugees, hospital, and a center for community lectures, concerts and other cultural activities. Click here for a longer history of this Friends School in Palestine.

There have been two communications from Ramallah Friends School recently received that describe the life of a School committed to a Friends way of Faith in a region of continual conflict, pain and suffering. The first is the 50th edition of their school newsletter Olive Press. In it is the: Head of School Letter, Senior’s Farewell Messages, 13th Annual Palestinian Model United Nations Conference. The newsletter is a peek into the life of this Friends school during a very difficult year. Click here for the newsletter:

The second is a Quaker Speak episode:  "The Palestinian Quaker School That Survived 150 Years of War and Occupation”. “ Two Ramallah Friends School administrators (Clerk of the Board and Head of School)  speak about living their faith and witness as they provide to the students and the community a place of education and support while under the occupation and the unfolding current war. They are firmly rooted in their Christian faith as they endure these daily challenges. The video provides in their own words how they strive to create a place of hope and sanctuary for the students and community regardless of faith. Click here.
